First, the President viewed the newly repaired and reconstructed building of the Milli Majlis. He was informed that best Turkish and local designers had been involved in the reconstruction works. The building has been provided with up-to-day heating, air conditioning, ventilation and lighting systems, and audio and video equipment. The Head of State praised the work that he said has been done in accordance with modern standards, and for the short period of time. At the assembly hall, President Ilham Aliyev was warmly welcomed by members of the Milli Majlis. The Autumn 2006 Session of the Azerbaijani Parliament was declared open. The President made a speech at the session. Movies shot in the CIS and Baltic states as well as other countries in 2005-2006 and films that won different international contests were shown free of charge in cinemas of the capital and the Ibrus Theater during the six-day event, the Union of Cinematographers said. Three Azerbaijani documentaries and several feature films were shown during the festival. Cinematographers from more than 10 countries have arrived in Baku to attend the event at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. The Azerbaijani film "Good bye, southern city" directed by Oleg Safaraliyev was screened on the first day of the event.
