COMMISSION FOR STATE SERVICE ANNOUNCES COMPETITION FOR VACANCIES IN MINISTRIES AND COMMITTEES

    Today.Az, March 6, 2007

Chairman of the Commission for State Service at President Bahram Khalilov and secretary of the Commission to Combat Corruption at State Service Management Council Inam Kerimov held a press conference.

Khalilov said that his commission carries out the competition for vacancies in the state service. He noted that the commission announced a competition for 80 vacancies in different ministries and committees.

Khalilov said that no announcements on such competitions have been made up to now and added that such announcements will be open.

Those who want to participate in the competition can present their documents within 30 days. After the documents are checked by the commission will be allowed to the first stage of the test. The test will be conducted by the State Student Admission Commission and relevant bodies.

The chief of the commission stressed that they will ensure fairness of the competition. "The society should believe us. Everything will be fair, there will be no illegalities. We will choose well-educated citizens for the state service. Admission for the state service avoiding the competition can give way to corruption," he said.

The secretary of the Commission to Combat Corruption at State Service Management Council Inam Kerimov said that the commission received about 200 appeals in 2006. 150 of them were sent to state bodies for investigation. He noted that these appeals will be publicized in future.

The competition has been announced for vacancies in Industry and Energy Ministry, State Committee Securities, Real Estate Registration Service, Commission for State Service at President, Accounting Chamber, State Student Admission Commission, Culture and Tourism Ministry, Transport Ministry, State Committee of Land and Cartography, APA reports.

Aliyev congratulates nation on historic date

The Azerbaijani people celebrated national holidays in a rather low-key way during the Soviet Union times. However, after they asserted sovereignty and established an independent state upon the Soviet collapse in 1991, March 20-21 - the Novruz Bayrami (Holiday) marking the advent of spring - were officially announced holidays. President Ilham Aliyev has lately issued a decree announcing the celebration of the holiday for five days for the first time in the republic's history. Under the decision, the people of Azerbaijan will celebrate the date for a full week starting this year.
