AZERI LEADER DISCUSSES ENERGY SECURITY AT MEETINGS IN DAVOS

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had a number of meetings on the sidelines of the Davos forum in Switzerland this morning, private TV station ANS reported on 24 January.
The report added that at the meeting with President for the Swiss Confederation Pascal Couchepin, Aliyev discussed the development of bilateral ties and stressed Azerbaijan's increasing role in ensuring energy security in Europe. The two men reportedly discussed regional issues and the Nagornyy Karabakh conflict at the meeting.
At their meeting today Aliyev and his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yushchenko focused on bilateral ties, their current state, future prospects and on further development of all spheres of strategic ties between the two states.
Day.az quoted a source at the Ukrainian presidential press service as saying that the Azerbaijani and Ukrainian leaders discussed cooperation on the Odessa-Brody-Plotsk-Gdansk oil pipeline on 24 January.
The Azerbaijani president and Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni discussed the development of bilateral relations today. The president also met the director of CISCO, the head of BP and officials of other companies.
