ASSA-IRADA 31, January, 2008
Azerbaijan will continue to expand cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), said President Ilham Aliyev receiving the organization's Director-General Margaret Chan.
"We plan to develop and modernize the heath system, construct new hospitals with up-to-date equipment. Certain results have been achieved in this direction. Yet, we have larger plans for future," he said.
Chan, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for supporting her candidacy for the post of WHO Secretary General. "The ongoing reforms in the health system, including your initiative in this area, as well as your plans on allocation of funds for health from the State Oil Fund and application of the mandatory medical insurance are worthy of commendation," she said.
