PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES VATICAN SECRETARY OF STATE, CARDINAL TARCISIO BERTONE

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on 7 March at President Palace received the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.
The President said he was pleased with the Cardinal's visit to Azerbaijan. Welcoming the guest, he stated: "You have a good program and I am confident that today all the Catholics are happy and it is an important event. We shall open a Catholic Church in our capital. It is a landmark event setting ground for further talks related to our cooperation".
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone expressed gratitude for cordial welcoming, noting the visit to Azerbaijan was very important for him. "We very much assess the fact that representatives of different faiths live in Azerbaijan in peaceful co-existence and tolerance. And we consider this tradition exemplary", the Cardinal said, conveying greetings of the Pope of Rome to the President of Azerbaijan.
President Aliyev thanked for warm greetings from the Pope of Rome and requested to convey his greetings to him, too.

World-known Italian actress Monica Belucci and President of "Cartier International" Company Mr. Bernard Fornas today have visited Baku to attend the inauguration ceremony of "Cartier" boutique.
Cartier watches, jewels and other accessories were demonstrated here.
On the same day, popular French singer Patricia Kaas gave concert at Azerbaijani State Philharmonic after Muslim Magomayev.
FIDE ANNOUNCES BAKU GRAND PRIX PARTICIPANTS

Kenan Hasanov. International Chess Federation (FIDE) approved final list of grand masters to attend Grand Prix in Baku on April 20 - May 6. Shariyar Mammadyarov, Teymour Rajabov and Vugar Hashimov will represent Azerbaijan at the tournament.
Pyotr Svidler (Russia), Qata Kamski (USA), Magnus Karlsen (Norway), Sergei Karyakin (the Ukraine), Michael Adams (Britain), Alexander Orishuk (Russia), Ivan Cheparinov (Bulgaria), Etienn Bakruau (France) You Vang (China), Ernesto Inarkiyev (Russia) and David Navara (Czech Republic) will join them. Winner of six-stage Grand Prix will compete with the 2009 World Cup winner and the winner of this meeting can claim the world chess crown. Winner challenger will compete the world champion in 2010.
