AZERBAIJAN TO HOLD PRESIDENTIAL VOTE ON OCTOBER 15

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on October 15, 2008, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) said.
Mazahir Panahov told reporters on Monday that under the country's Constitution, presidential elections are held on third Wednesday of October. The registration of candidates for president will start 120 days before the election day, he said.
According to initial data, over 4.834 million people will have a right to cast their votes during the elections. 52% of the voters are women, while 44% - men. 55,000 people have attained the right to vote this year.*
