Azerbaijan Re-enters IT Competitiveness Rating

Azerbaijan collected 19.6 points and took the 63rd position (amongst 66 countries) for its IT competitiveness index in the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) report of 2008, which was issued with the support of Business Software Alliance (BSA), Azerbaijan’s Communications & IT Ministry said.
Researches covered 64 countries in 2007. Azerbaijan took the 62nd position with 18.8 points.
The researches base on six different categories of 25 quality and quantity indices. The United States topped the rating (74.6 points), followed by Taiwan (69.2 points), UK (67.2 points). As to CIS, Russia took the 49th position, Ukraine took the 57th position and Kazakhstan took the 59th position.
“The fact that Azerbaijan is amongst the first 66 countries out of 200 manifests country’s potential and development of IT,” Ministry said.
Economist Intelligence Unit, including over 650 analysts worldwide, is a research unit of The Economist Group. It is engaged in appraisal and forecasting of political, economic and business activity in world’s 200 countries.
