The newly-appointed UN Resident Coordinator
presents his credentials to the President of Azerbaijan
Baku, 27 February 2007 - Today, Mr. Bruno Pouezat presented his credentials to His Excellency Mr. Ilham H. Aliyev President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
A national of France and career United Nations staff, Mr. Pouezat last served as the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP and UNFPA Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova from August 2002 to January 2007. His prior postings included Officer in Charge of UNDP and UNFPA in Kuwait in 2001-2002, Special Adviser to the Associate Administrator of UNDP at UNDP Headquarters in New York (1999-2001) and Deputy Resident Representative/ UNDP Programme Director in Mongolia (1997-1999). After joining UNDP in 1986 as Junior Programme Officer in Mali, Mr. Pouezat worked as Programme Officer in Uganda and Assistant Representative (Programme) in Bangladesh, Somalia and Viet Nam. Prior to joining UNDP, he worked with the French Embassy in the USA.
Mr. Pouezat holds Master's degrees from the University of Birmingham (UK), the Ecole Sup?rieure des Travaux Publics, Paris (France) and the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA (USA) and studied at the Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Mr. Pouezat is married to Catherine Bentz-Pouezat, a dental surgeon. Dr. Pouezat accompanies her husband; she is also a French national.
