Who make decisions on our activities?
UNDP Azerbaijan plans its projects based on a Country Programme Document which is derived from the UN Development Assistance Framework, a joint country strategy of the UN System agencies for a five-year period.
UNDP's main counterpart responsible for coordinating the UNDAF formulation and review processes on behalf of the Government is the Ministry of Economic Development.
UNDP's development projects are all demand driven and initiated by our government partners.
Where does UNDP money come from and what does it spend it on?
UNDP Azerbaijan uses its core resources allotted by the Headquarters as seed-money for mobilizing additional funding for its projects.
UNDP projects in Azerbaijan are funded, for the most part by the government. In 2009, 69% of funding for UNDP projects came from the Government. A smaller percentage of our projects is funded by the European Union, bilateral donors (of which biggest is the Government of the Kingdom of Norway), the private sector and trust funds.
How does UNDP do business (including internal rules and regulations as well as major procurement decisions)?
Most of our projects are nationally executed and managed by a National Project Director appointed by the government counterpart. Major procurement decisions are made either according to UNDP or Government rules and regulations depending on the agreement between the parties.
What is UNDP Azerbaijan 's total programme delivery in the previous year?
UNDP Azerbaijan country office programme expenditure during the year 2008 was USD 9,186,000 while the delivery for the end of December 2009 was USD 9,917,000.
