"Modernization of Customs Services in Azerbaijan Project" | Status: Closed
The principal aim of the project is to overview and upgrade the Customs Legislation and Procedures, in line with EU Customs legislation and international standards. The project also focuses on the improvement of the Customs Information Technology Strategy. The project envisages the drafting of the New Customs Code.
Southern-Caucasus Anti-Drug Programme - SCAD (Phase V) | Status: Closed
SCAD is the European Commission assistance programme against drugs in Southern Caucasus implemented by UNDP in cooperation with national authorities in the three countries (Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia) since 2001. It is meant to contribute to reducing drug trafficking and drug abuse as the programme addresses interdiction aspects as well as demand reduction and regional co-operation aspects. The current fifth phase of the programme started in 2007 has five components all focusing on EU good practices on drugs: Drug Information and epidemiology; legal assistance and institutional frameworks; treatment and rehabilitation of drug users; public awareness campaigns with NGOs, educators and the media; and regional cooperation in law enforcement.
Capacity Building and Data Transmission Network Implementation for the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Republic | Status: Closed
Aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of the State Customs Committee, the project has established an on-line data transmission network between the Committee’s main office and 60 customs border checkpoints across the country. It has also introduced an anti-smuggling software and database. Among other things, customs officials have received professional training in cargo management and evaluation and attended English language courses.
Regional e-Government Training and Resource Centre (REGTARC) | Status: ClosedThe project is designed to build a Regional e-Government Training and Resource Centre in Azerbaijan. The Centre will analyze and systemize international and domestic experience in e-Governance into forms of knowledge societies which can be transferred to those interested both in Azerbaijan and abroad.
ICT for Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan | Status: Closed
In order to support the implementation of the "State Program (2005-2007) on the Information Communication Technologies for Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan", the project aims to establish a single education-information environment that will serve to increase quality of education in Azerbaijan through use of information technologies. Among other things, within the project, secondary schools have been provided with computer equipment and software developed on different disciplines as part of the syllabus. More than a thousand teachers have been trained on the use of the new technologies and software to improve the quality of the education process.
