Nearly one billion – or one out of seven – people are migrants. “Migration can enhance human development for the people who move, for destination communities and for those who remain at home”, said UNDP resident Representative Bruno Pouezat in his opening remarks at the launch of “The 2009 Human Development Report entitled “Overcoming barriers: Human mobility and development” at the premises of State Migration Service today.

Baku, 10 September, 2009 - Today, UNDP and the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan launched a joint project to benefit regional NGOs in Azerbaijan.
The project aimed at strengthening the management capacity of local NGO sector in Azerbaijan was signed by Bruno Pouezat, the UNDP Resident Representative, and Azay Quliyev, the Chairman of the Council for State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Baku, 8 May 2009 – Though oil and gas revenues contributed to Azerbaijan's rapid economic growth lately, the development of the non-oil sector is currently seen by the Government as an urgent task. “Business development of recent years has led to a situation when businesses, especially in the non-oil sector, feeling themselves sufficiently comfortable, are dealing not only with solely business matters, but have also started to take up some social responsibilities.” The process of application of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) principles by businesses in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector coincided with the launch by the United Nations of a project promoting the Global Compact in the country, stressed Rahim Huseynov, President of the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), in his opening remarks at a business lunch with top managers of key businesses operating in the country, organized today jointly with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
UNDP, Eurasia Partnership Foundation and AZPROMO promote Corporate Social Responsibility among Azerbaijan’s private sector Baku, 4-5 December 2008 - The corporate social responsibility gives the private sector an opportunity to demonstrate that it makes economic growth deliver more to the citizens of the world - sustainable development that is good for people and for the environment. “The private sector is the biggest creator of employment and wealth. Media representatives learn more about Global Compact Baku, 14 October 2008 - UNDP’s global mandate is to support development. “There’s no better engine than private sector for promoting development through creating jobs and generating income”, stressed the UNDP Resident Representative Bruno Pouezat in his opening words at the media training seminar on the UN’s Global Compact initiative focusing on partnerships with the private sector today. “Private sector plays an active role as a member of society and the purpose of the Global Compact is to encourage it to be a better global citizen”, said Mr. Pouezat. more
