Mine action projects
Further strengthening and expansion of mine action capacity in Azerbaijan - Status: Ongoing
The main goal of the project is to create a national mine action capacity capable of planning, coordinating and managing all mine/UXO related activities in the currently unoccupied areas, and enable it to expand into areas yet to be unoccupied. Launched back in 1999, the project has helped the building of capacity of the newly-established Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA). It has established and made operation the headquarters of ANAMA in Baku, regional offices in Horadiz, Fizuli and Khanlar districts. Major activities include clearance of mines and UXOs, training of manual mine clearance staff, conducting landmine impact surveys, etc.
