Baku, 9 July, 2010 - The Government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations in Azerbaijan signed the next United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), a five-year collaboration which aligns the UN prospective development activities with the State Programme for Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development (2008-2015). Expectations are high that the role and contribution of the UN system to national development will become more coherent, effective and relevant, as well as provide better support for the government in achieving the internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Abid Sharifov, and the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Fikret Akcura, signed the UNDAF alongside government officials and representatives from the UN agencies.
National Conference on pasture management
National conference on pasture management was held at the central building of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources within the framework of the Ministry and UNDP joint project funded by the Government of Norway. The national conference was attended by representatives of relevant state institutions, international development agencies and representatives of non-government organizations. Baku, 15 February 2010 - United Nations Development Programme and the Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan launched a four-day training on“Human Recourses Management” for senior officials of public institutions started on 15 February 2010 in Baku’s HYATT Hotel. The training was aimed at developing professional skills of civil servants in HR issues. more
